Day 2 - Tuesday

We started the day by checking in to see how the night went for the campers and their pups.

Then we got deep into discussion about development at different stages of a dog's life.

We also talked about the various types of dog training and why our focus at Camp Doglando is relationship-focused, which may not be fully understood in an obedience-driven, "fix it" world.

That led us into how in life (school, work, family, friends, community) we may not always get positive feedback, and sometimes others may try to force their way of doing things onto us.

This discussion gave campers the opportunity to understand how we can turn those moments into learning experiences by not taking things personally and allowing our emotions to settle before responding, giving us insight into what we do and why we do it.

Next, campers taught their pups skills such as "Free," and Pedestal Stand, and they practiced bridging their recalls using a long line.

We discussed how every dog is at a different stage in their development,

and some may not have learned much in the past.

Campers went the extra mile, patiently supporting the dogs who were uncertain as they explored new experiences.

We then shared some moments of calm while the campers learned how massage can help their pups relax and release tension.

All of the campers got firsthand experience in bathing and grooming their pup.

Then, Mary led a modified game of Bingo for team building...

We ended the day with a snack and worked on updating the pups' profiles. (We'll be adding more to their online bios throughout the week).

See you tomorrow!
