Day 2 - Tuesday
We began the morning by checking in with everyone and discussing how the previous evening and morning went with their dogs.
From there, we transitioned into today’s training exercises by practicing proper crate handling. Campers learned how to safely remove dogs from their crates using body language, clear verbal communication, and positive reinforcement.
We introduced mild distractions throughout the exercise so campers could practice keeping their dogs focused and engaged even when the environment became more stimulating.
Throughout the activity, we emphasized patience, consistency, and allowing the dogs to make good choices rather than forcing behaviors.

While the dogs enjoyed some well-deserved downtime, campers participated in several team-building relay games designed to improve communication.
One challenge required campers to carefully carry a bowl of water using only their feet while balancing another bowl on their head before racing to empty it into a larger bucket. The games encouraged problem-solving, teamwork, and plenty of laughter.

Following an active morning, everyone gathered in the barn to enjoy lunch and take a break from the heat.
During lunch, we continued our daily conversation with fun questions that helped campers learn more about one another.
Today’s featured question was, “What’s your biggest phobia?” These conversations continue to build friendships among campers while creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing and participating.
After lunch, campers took a break to play with their dogs on the grass strip. They even cooled off with a quick dip of their feet in the pond with before heading back inside to work with the dogs.
The afternoon lesson introduced the fundamentals of loose-leash walking. Campers practiced proper leash handling, rewarding dogs for checking in with them, maintaining a loose leash, and walking calmly together without pulling.

To finish the day, every dog received a bath while campers learned the importance of routine grooming and preventative care.
Before wrapping up, we held an educational discussion on responsible breeding and the long-term health concerns associated with overbreeding. Campers learned why ethical breeding practices are important and how responsible ownership helps improve the overall welfare of dogs.
