Day 3 - Wednesday

We started the morning with a variety of stretches and fun movement exercises to help campers wake up, get energized, and prepare for a busy day ahead.

Once everyone was up and moving, we loaded up for a field trip to LJ’s Eclipse Training & Trails!

During our visit, campers had the opportunity to learn about the daily care and management of horses.

They observed feeding routines, discussed proper grooming and stall maintenance, and even learned about cleaning up after horses.

Throughout the visit, we compared the similarities and differences between caring for horses and dogs, helping campers better understand that while every species has unique needs, responsible animal care always requires patience, consistency, and compassion.

After returning from our field trip, campers gathered together for lunch and continued our daily lunchtime conversations.

These discussions give everyone an opportunity to relax, build friendships, and share stories while reflecting on what they learned throughout the morning’s activities.

Once the afternoon heat began to settle in, campers headed outside with the dogs for some supervised exercise on the grass strip.

The dogs enjoyed running, playing, and burning off energy while campers practiced reading body language and encouraging appropriate play.

As temperatures continued to rise, everyone cooled off with one of our favorite summer activities—swim time!

Each dog had the opportunity to safely enjoy the pool while campers learned about water safety, recognizing when a dog is comfortable in the water, and making swimming a fun and positive experience.

To wrap up another great day, campers were introduced to pedestal training.

Dogs learned how to confidently step onto and remain on an elevated platform while campers practiced rewarding calm behavior, improving focus, and building confidence.

Pedestal work is an excellent foundation for impulse control, body awareness, and future obedience training.

Every day our campers continue developing stronger handling skills, growing more confident working with their dog, and learning what it truly means to be responsible, compassionate dog owners.

We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings at Camp Doglando!
