Day 7 - Tuesday

We kicked off the day by letting the campers and their dogs burn off some energy on the grass strip!

The campers spent time playing with their dogs, helping them exercise and tire out before a fun-filled day of field trips.

Our first stop was Rick’s Dog Deli, where campers got a behind-the-scenes look at how customized dog food is made.

They learned about the ingredients that go into preparing healthy meals for dogs and even had the opportunity to help prepare some of the food trays themselves.

It was a great hands-on experience that taught them more about canine nutrition.

For lunch, the campers enjoyed their meals on the way to our second field trip at VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group).

During the visit, they toured the hospital, learned how emergency veterinary medicine differs from a traditional veterinary clinic, and got an inside look at the fast-paced work veterinarians and technicians do to help animals in need.

In the afternoon, we made a special stop at Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) to meet some of their newest arrivals.

The campers learned about the rescue process and even got to experience what it’s like when Doglando Foundation pulls dogs from the shelter to begin their journey toward finding forever homes.

To wrap up the day, the campers split into two teams and put their creativity to work by brainstorming names for the two newly rescued dogs.

After lots of great ideas, they chose the names Pandora and Athena!

It was the perfect way to end an exciting first day while giving the campers a chance to play a small role in these dogs’ new beginnings.

See you tomorrow,
